TravelPlaces is free to use. Some of the booking links on the site earn us a commission — here is exactly how that works.
What the links are
Some links to tours, activities and hotels are affiliate links. If you book through one, the travel company pays us a small share of what they earn. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid going direct — the commission comes out of their margin, not your pocket.
Who we work with
We link to established booking partners, including Viator and GetYourGuide for tours and activities, and hotel booking partners through the Travelpayouts network. We add partners as we grow, and this page is updated when we do.
How it affects what you see
It doesn't. Places come from your itinerary, from OpenStreetMap and from what our community actually recommends — never from who pays the most. We don't accept payment for a place to appear, rank higher, or be suggested by the AI planner. Where a booking link exists, we add it to the place; where it doesn't, the place still stands.
How links are marked
Monetized links are marked as sponsored for browsers and search engines, and every page carrying them shows a short disclosure next to the links themselves — not just here.
What we track
When you follow a booking link we record that the click happened, which page it came from and an anonymous reference the partner sends back if a booking completes. That's how we get paid and how we know which guides are useful. We don't sell your data.
Where our place data comes from
The list of cities we build destination pages for is derived from GeoNames (geonames.org), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Photographs and the background facts on those pages come from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, credited on the page itself where the licence asks for it.
Third-party scripts
One of our booking partners, Travelpayouts, asks us to load a small script on the site so they can verify we own it and measure the traffic we send them. It runs on every page, not just pages with booking links. Alongside it we use StatCounter, Amplitude and Google Analytics to count and understand visits, and Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure traffic and page speed. That is the complete list.
